First of all, no I do not know what Ventritex means. And neither did their captain, when I asked her at the coin toss! Okay, I just searched on Google, and apparently it's some sort of implantable defibrillator... big deal! Anyways, we started off rather slowly, even though we were up 3 players. I think most of us were still shocked that we were missing 4 players (20% of the team!) to Surf Camp of all things! Christa and Heather better kick some surf ass when they get back! We had troubles with the wind, and gave their forwards all sorts of room up front with the ball. We managed to go up 1-0 on a classic DiCarlo goal, but they threatened to tie on a Penalty Shot after I pulled a very nice "deer-caught-in-headlights" move, and Arthur doing his best to save my ass took the pansy down in the box. Luckily he lacked both the skill and the quality, and was not equal to the task (can you tell I've been watching too much soccer on TV?). The second half was full of home cooking as the other team got all sorts of bogus calls their way, but we took advantage of the wind and numerical superiority to pound them with 4 more goals!
Extra marks go to Karen for showing up so early that she had to play in the game before us, and then going home with a big lump on her head (I tried to convince her St. John's had ice, but to no avail).
